Professional teak care consists of three essential stages: surface cleaning, natural teak oil application, and protective treatment. Using the right products and application techniques helps preserve the wood’s natural appearance while preventing weathering and discoloration. Regular maintenance enhances durability, extending the lifespan of teak surfaces while maintaining their refined and aesthetic character.
1. Cleaning
Dirt and residues accumulated on the timber surface are removed using specialized cleaning products suitable for the material. The cleaning process is carried out to allow the product to penetrate the surface and help remove dirt embedded in the pores.
2. SURFACE CARE
Darkening caused by weather exposure, algae growth and other surface contaminants are removed. Using specialized maintenance pads, surface irregularities and weathered layers are cleaned away, preparing the timber for the oiling process.
3. PROTECTION
Once the surface is completely dry, a teak maintenance oil suitable for the timber’s intended use and exposure conditions is applied. Oiling helps preserve the appearance of the wood and improve its resistance to external environmental factors.
Teak is widely used for outdoor furniture, decking and boat deck applications due to its natural oil content and high resistance to outdoor conditions. However, exposure to sunlight, rain, humidity, dirt and other environmental factors can gradually change the appearance of the surface. Over time, the timber may lose its original tone and develop a grey patina.
The greying of teak does not necessarily mean that the wood has been structurally damaged. In most cases, this colour change is part of the natural ageing process that occurs on the surface.
Regular maintenance helps remove accumulated dirt and surface deposits, preserve the desired appearance of the timber and, when necessary, support the surface with suitable maintenance products.
One of the most important stages of a successful teak maintenance application is proper surface preparation before oiling. Dirt, stains, algae growth and weathered surface layers that accumulate on the timber over time can directly affect the performance of the maintenance product applied afterwards.

This approach helps reduce unnecessary abrasion and material loss while preparing the surface properly for the maintenance treatment. Where necessary, more extensive mechanical surface preparation can be carried out depending on the condition of the timber.
